Cleaning The Facilities

The milking barn is cleaned using fresh water rather then the recycled water located in the holding pond. This process is done twice a day after each milking shift. The milking barn also is pressure washed on a weekly basis to maximize the cleanliness of the barn.

The solid material that has been separated from the liquid material is taken to a place near the organic farm as compost. Also in this type of material is the dirty bedding consisting of straw and wood shavings for calves and straw for the older animals. The bodies of cows that are dead also are taken with the compost to a place behind the organic farm. The bodies are sprayed with a chemical that is said to fully decompose the carcass.
